What weapons & armor are there in Destiny 2?

There are multitudes of valuable pieces of gear in Destiny 2. It's virtually impossible to comprehend the sheer variety of guns that this game has. Fortunately, you don't have to. You can find all the weapons and armor you need in our catalog. Why do they matter while the rest doesn't? The community has figured out that these guns and gear pieces are the best of their type in Destiny 2. How? Don't ask us – we're not that much into theory and min-maxing! It's a comprehensive and complex process that only the die-hard fans of the game (basically geeks) can master. We – as the rest of the community – simply use the fruit of their admirable work and supply you with the best equipment options as figured out by those gurus.

Well, all that stuff aside, there are 5 types of items in the game by rarity:

Common (white)
Uncommon (green)
Rare (blue)
Legendary (purple)
Exotic (yellow)

Frankly speaking, common (white) weapons and armor are not that common these days as it's virtually impossible to find something below the uncommon rarity. But whatever – no one cares about them anyway. What everyone does care through are legendary and exotic items. In our catalog you will find numerous options of both weapons and armor of these quality types.

Here's a more detailed table on all the item types:

RARITY	DESCRIPTION
Common (white)	All low-level items are of the same level. These goods are white in color and have no possible improvements. When you disassemble them, you get some Glimmer but no materials. Except for Fusion Rifles, all Common weapons do Kinetic damage. At higher levels common Engrams will no longer emerge.
Uncommon (green)	Uncommon things may be upgraded at a little fee in Glimmer. A single upgrade material is obtained by disassembling an item. Elemental damage modifiers will be applied to several Special and Heavy weapons. The level maximum for uncommon items is 18.
Rare (blue)	Rare items are somewhere in between. They are one step and several miles ahead of what green items can offer but they are still not in the same league as purple ones. These items are good for starting your high-end journey but you'll soon get rid of most of them.
Legendary (purple)	Legendary equipment is harder to get than blue ones. Although all Legendary pieces may be utilized at Level 20, their maximum level is usually close to the current Level limit. Legendary gear always requires the purchase of Reputation first, and with the exception of Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris gear, it must be bought with Legendary Marks. Purple items have the most improvements but they also demand Ascendant materials to be completely upgraded which makes them highly pricey. Disassembling an item will give both upgrades and Ascendant materials. Furthermore, Legendary pieces obtained via Raids tend to perform better than typical Legendary items, whether they are additional upgrades for weapons or greater Light levels for armor.
Exotic (yellow)	These are the most expensive products available. They are the tier of equipment that refers to strong and one-of-a-kind weapons, armor, and trinkets. They are characterized by their unusual looks and powers which separate them from Legendary equipment. At any one moment only one Exotic weapon and one Exotic armor piece may be equipped. Exotics in Destiny 2 may be improved using an Exotic Shard and other resources. Also a catalyst can be added to exotic weapons.

What weapon types are there?

Beside rarity, there are also weapon types. There should be a way to draw a distinction between a grenade launcher and a bow, right? So that's what these weapon types do. Check them out (in brackets we specify the ammo type that this weapon type uses):

What are the sources of gear in Destiny 2?

There are multiple sources of all kinds of Destiny 2 gear. The coolest guns can be obtained in raids. The so-called raid exotics are the most sought-after shooters in the game. However, that's not the only source: some exotics can be also found in dungeons, PvP modes, some are awarded for completing puzzles, some are given as quest rewards (sounds easy? don't get too excited, some Destiny 2 quests are quite challenging). Legendaries are quite similar in this regard but they are also more numerous, so it's easier to come by them. Rares and uncommons are of less interest to players, but there's also plenty of them given as quest rewards all across the game world.

Armor is not really different from that. The biggest difference is exotic armor is not very commonplace and it usually comes from exotic engrams or as an elusive world drop. Not something to rely on, so legendary armor sets from raids remain a core part of most builds.
